Because of a RPG between ~lleaflet and me, I've been yarning to draw Akefia as a gladiator for a while already~

Out of all possibilities, I decided that retiarius class suited him the best. Due to the fact they were the most light-armored gladiators, retiarii were pretty quick and agile when compared to other classes, such as secutores they usually fought with. Though sometimes the lack of armor was also considered "effeminate", which usually lead to categorizing retiarii as the lowest class of gladiators.. But in a way, that fits Akefia too.

Also, I grew quite fond to the fighting technique retiarii used. Because they lacked armor, they had to avoid close combat and keep distance. So, they usually tried to either trap the opponent with their net (which, when succeeding, could end the battle just like that) or simply avoid getting hit and provoking the opponent so much they'd wear themselves out (since they were more heavily armored, they got exhausted a lot easier) which would provide an opportunity strike with the trident - which, in fact, was strong enough to pierce unarmored bone.

... tl;dr - Akefia as a retiarius type gladiator, because he'd surely enjoy thrusting that trident into his opponent's guts.

<sub>I'm not completely sure about that foot-armor. I think I've read that retiarius' only armor was his shoulder guard, but in some pics I searched for reference, there was also a leg guard In the end I decided to have some fun and draw the leg guard too, were it accurate or not.
Also, that arm guard is a bit too small, I think.
